Getting Here
Our packages all start and end at Alder Bay RV Park & Marina on northern Vancouver Island. Alder Bay is 15 km south of Port McNeill or 190 km north of Campbell River on Vancouver Island. For those driving, watch for the signs to Telegraph Cove, turning off the main Highway 19 onto Beaver Cove Road. From the Highway 19 turn off, it is approximately 6 km to Alder Bay. For driving directions and driving times please see the Google Maps link for Alder Bay.From Alder Bay, we transport our guests in and out of Farewell Harbour Lodge via our water taxi. The journey takes us into the heart of the Broughton Archipelago past some of the most bio-diverse marine habitat on the planet. We often get side-tracked on our journey into the lodge by feeding Humpback Whales, curious Stellar Sea Lions, or playful Pacific White Sided Dolphins!
Incoming guests depart Alder Bay at 12:30pm daily arriving at Farewell Harbour at 1:00pm. Outgoing guests depart Farewell Harbour at 11:15am daily arriving back at Alder Bay by 12:00pm.
On arrival in Alder Bay, guests should check in at the Alder Bay RV Park & Marina main office. Complimentary parking is available for Farewell Harbour Lodge guests. Guests can obtain a parking pass from the Alder Bay office.
For the water taxi shuttle departing Alder Bay, guests must check in at least 30 minutes prior to the scheduled departure time. There is no restriction on baggage weight for our water taxi.
Guests flying into Port Hardy must fly in the day before their arrival to the lodge so they don't miss our midday water taxi transfer from Alder Bay due to possible and sometimes frequent morning flight delays (due to morning fog). Guests are responsible for pre-booking their own hotel and private taxi transfers from Port Hardy Airport to their hotel. There are a number of hotel options in Port Hardy. Please contact our office for local hotel and taxi information. Our complimentary daily morning shuttle offers pick up from local hotels for the ground transfer to Alder Bay to meet our midday water taxi transfer to Farewell Harbour Lodge.
Guests flying out of Port Hardy on departure must fly out after 14:00, as booking an earlier flight will result in a missed connection to Vancouver. Our complimentary daily afternoon shuttle meets guests on their midday water taxi return to Alder Bay and offers drop off at Port Hardy Airport and local hotels. We recommend staying overnight in Vancouver and not booking any same-day international connections in case of flight delays.
Please contact us if you require a ground shuttle transfer between Port Hardy and Alder Bay.
